I have started to panic. I am worried that my regression results are insignificant and that all this work i’ve done throughout the semester is going to turn out to be complete crap. I know that you don’t have to prove your hypothesis correct but I would really like to since I’ve been working all semester to come up with these results. Also, I am having trouble remembering how to test for some of the problems such as autocorrelation, multicollinearity etc. If anyone is a EViews wiz and would like to try to help me I’d appreciate it.

Ok, enough complaining for now.

So my presentation is complete…or so I think…I will probably continue to edit it the more I go through it and rehearse it before tomorrow morning but for now it is done. The bad news…I know that I am going to need to correct some autocorrelation and possibly heteroskedasticity…so we will see how that goes. Obviously, this won’t be done for my presentation, but will of course need to be addressed sooner or later..

A Nightmare Come True

So while working on my project I realized that I need to change my equation, probably fairly significantly. I need to make a dependent variable of several of my health statistics, either by rolling them together somehow or incorporating many while keeping them independent. While I’m largely fine, this should drastically change my results and the practical conclusions and applications from the equation. It also means I have a fair bit of work ahead of me.

hmmm… so, I thought that I was ok with my paper and project, but I don’t think I am. I realized that I have a bunch more work to do and I am not very motivated to do it!! If anyone has any suggestions on where I can find annual data on the number of US Armed Servicemen please let me know! I have looked over the usual suspects for the data (DoD, Whtiehouse, etc.) without luck, so suggestions are welcome!!

Also, good luck to everyone with the last week of classes and finishing up this paper!!!

Now that i’m finished with my presentation I realize that I was stressing out for no reason. I knew my material and was able to handle the questions, and I got some good feedback on how to improve my project. All I can say now is I hope this paper works out and good luck to everyone else with the last week of classes!

I need to talk to Dr. Greenlaw this week about adding some variables to my regressions. I still haven’t gotten information from many state sales tax departments, so that’s disappointing. Anyway, I’ll hopefully finish up by this weekend so I can spend more time studying.

Hey all. Hopefully everyone had a great thanksgiving and is getting some time to relax in these few days, but I know most of you, like me, have work to be doing anyway. After having given my presentation on my terrible model, I’ve started work on correcting various parts of it. I need to average all the income brackets, run a different type of regression, and add in other variables. This will involve a lot of tedious work with my data. This paper is due the day of the final, right? Everyone have a great break and good luck wrapping up this paper!

Winding down and stressed out

So I still have not received my data and I am freaking out. I have all the other parts of the paper written but without data you’re up the creek without the paddle and I feel like that’s where I am right now. I am getting really stressed about it and I emailed the FBI again and so hopefully they will realize that I need the sooner rather than later… then again who am I to think that the FBI is going to jump when I say jump, i’m not THAT cool! Also, if someone would reply with a general structure for their paper I would like to know how others are setting theirs up. I am sure the way it’s supposed to be done is in the book but i’d like to hear some feedback from my fellow mates. Alright everyone, see you tomorrow!

Too Much Literature

I’ve just now realized, after writing five and a half pages of literatuer review, that my review is far too long. Perhaps if I had not been stiffed on relevant data sets by the Metropolitan Police Department , the exessive length of my lit. review would be a little easier to cope with.

If only there were a data store. What would this store be called? Where would it be located? The answer to both of these questions is: the internet. Nevertheless, if there were a physical store that sold data in let’s say, Tysons Corner; I would be there right now. I think that constructing the business model would be the hardest part of a venture of this nature. Who would be the CEO? Paulison? Geithner? Bernanke? Greenspan? Greenlaw?

Ephraim: How much for the MPDC budget from 1969-2008?

Clerk: $1200.

Ephraim: That’s it?

Clerk: Cash only. No credit…unless you can take some of the data off or our hands?
