The 2nd Amendment

After some light research, I have found some good full text sources pertaining to the supreme court ruling which has altered Washington DC’s provisions on handgun ownership and operation.   I know this doesn’t sound like economic literature…and it isn’t. My tentative research question asks: Will the lift of Washington’s firearm litigation positively effect the city’s unemployment rate?

The amount of time that has elapsed since the Supreme Court decision is roughly two months. The dependent variable (unemployment), is standing in temporarily as a proxy variable for DC’s crime rate because data on the crime rate is not yet available. The explanatory variable (the Supreme Court ruling) will not change at all. I feel that there are other proxy variables I could use besides the unemployment rate like the number of homicides. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to send them my way.
